We Need Diverse Books offers grants and mentorships to authors and publishing professionals, advocates for positive change in the publishing industry, and helps promote the variety of books already available. They are actively involved in efforts to fight book bans and get books into the hands of kids (and adults!) who need them.
Each year on November 1, hundreds of thousands of people around the world begin to write, determined to end the month with 50,000 words of a brand-new novel. You may know this mass creative explosion by the name National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo—but that’s not all that NaNoWriMo is!
The Mighty Pens wants to help authors finish their books and help a worthy cause. We encourage authors to find sponsors during NaNoWriMo, with donations going to charity and authors earning prizes donated by industry professionals. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for our selected annual charity.
